1️⃣ Prepare the Worry Detector Template
Slide the Worry Detector template between the two plastic sheets of the presentation cover
Ensure the top of the template is positioned closest to the binding (where the two sheets are joined).
2️⃣ Trace & Color
Using only permanent markers, trace the Worry Detector outline in black directly onto the top plastic sheet.
Using only permanent markers, color in the Worry Detector sections as follows:
Far Left - "All Clear" → Green
"Slight Suspicion" → Blue
"On Alert" → Yellow
"High Tension" → Orange
Far Right - "Code Red" → Red
You may color the characters and other items of your worry detector template however you like
3️⃣ Assemble The Detector
Remove the Worry Detector template and set it aside.
Position the presentation cover so that the black side of the file folder is placed between the two plastic sheets.
The colored side of your plastic presentation cover should face outward, covering the black folder side.
The uncolored side of the plastic presentation cover should face inward, toward the inside pocket of the file folder.
Align the edges so everything is neatly in place.
Secure everything by sliding the binding clip over the edge of the folder and plastic sheets where they are joined together.
4️⃣ Prepare The Flashlight
Color the handle of your flashlight using any art supplies you like, but leave the light beam white.
Cut out the flashlight and its beam.
5️⃣ Reveal The Secret Detector!
Lift the presentation cover and slide your flashlight beam between the plastic cover and black folder.
Watch as your secret Worry Detector is illuminated!
Using Your Worry Detector
The Worry Detector is a tool to help you check in with how you’re feeling in different situations. It’s like a flashlight that shines on your feelings, helping you and your courage coach understand how your body reacts to worry.
How to Use Your Worry Detector:
Think Of A Situation: Start by thinking of a time when you felt anxious or scared—or imagine a situation where you might feel that way.
Check The Detector: Shine your flashlight on the Worry Detector to see where your feelings rank:
Green: Not worried at all, feeling calm and relaxed.
Yellow: Feeling a little uneasy or nervous.
Orange: Definitely worried—your body might feel tense or your stomach feels funny.
Red: Super scared—the most worried you’ve ever felt.
Talk About It: Use the Worry Detector to help explain what you’re feeling to your Confidence Coach. For example:
“I felt orange when I tried something new today. My stomach felt a little tight.”
“This morning, I felt red because I was nervous about school.”
Why It’s Helpful:
The Worry Detector is a great way to understand how your body feels in different situations. It helps you notice your feelings and gives you a way to talk about them with someone who cares.
